Pros

I've been working here for about 3 months and the pros are the flexible schedule and very organized/professional event supervisors, its a great job if your a student or just need a second job for the weekends. Through blue plate I've catered small events in the suburbs serving champaign and appetizers as well as full service dinner events with 1000 guests at the field museum and this company is always organized, the event supervisors know exactly what to do and keep the events flowing smoothly. Every event is different and so coming to work is never boring.

Cons

Not so much a con but more of an annoyance: Servers that have been there for a long time kind of act like h.s. students and cling to their group of friends throughout an entire shift, often taking them longer to complete simple tasks that they intentionally drag out so that they can talk to their friend(s) creating more work for other servers, especially during the set up of events. I understand that they want to have fun while at work and thats good, but some need to remember to keep it down because its not their party, and they need to move faster if tables need to be set.

Pros

Exposure to new foods, techniques, and environments.

Cons

It has some redundancy due to the kind of business it partakes.

Pros

Cool managers, good training, family/community vibe, cool events, cool venues around Chicago you get to go to. GREAT FOOD.

Cons

After they get your training out of the way, they give you much less shifts and work opportunities. Some of the older servers get paid to just show up, and don't contribute much work. You're forced to get rid of all the food on your plate, even though guests may get annoyed and clearly don't want more.. Feeling like you will never be in the position of those rich and beautiful you are serving because you are their servants. Not the best feeling.
