Pros

Focus on work-life balance, most employees are highly intelligent people who are easy to work with, great products that make a difference in people's lives, environmentally focused.

Cons

C-Suite and board of directors appear to lack a consistent vision and strategy, which makes for numerous restructures, sudden changes to company focus, budget turmoil, etc, that results in high level of uncertainty for past several years.

Pros

I enjoyed working with all of my research colleagues. They were great scientists who worked well together. Biogen does not have the pressure cooker philosophy that other research companies have. Benefits are awesome! Summer hours on Friday, free bonus week off for December. No punching the clock, just get the work done.

Cons

Discoveries from the research group are not high priority for the organization. In fact, most assets are discontinued due to the reflexive nature of senior management. During my time at Biogen, I worked on oncology, immunology, and neurology projects. The first two fell out of fad with management during my tenure so all of my work was shelved or sold off. If you look at Biogen's pipeline and products, very few were entirely discovered in house. Promotions are VERY slow at Biogen.

Pros

Excellent compensation, great benefits, and wonderful colleagues with diverse backgrounds. Before 2014, culture and values were very important to this company.

Cons

Restroom breaks had to be scheduled in to our workday. Managers and supervisors would hover over us making our jobs very difficult. We were told that we had to shove in as many calls in a day even if that meant our patient's needs were not met. This was in direct contradiction to the 'one call resolution' that the company supposedly felt was important. Morale went down hill as the company became greedier and greedier. They got rid of patient programs that were the reason for the companies success in the first place.
