Pros

If nothing else it is a paycheck when you have nothing else to go to.

Cons

terrible neighborhood gang bangers stealing every day, management was horrible they have no people skills and very rude. They hired me as a trainee yet received no training you have to keep bugging them to train you. Terrible work hours and not safe to be at that store late.

Pros

The best thing about working for Big 5 Spring Goods for me is that I am a fixer and there is no shortage of areas that need fixing. They had very good healthcare coverage when I started working there but they reduced it for anyone hired after that time, first quarter 2012, and decreased the quality of more tenured employees shortly thereafter.

Cons

Management is selected from sales workers. While this gives employees an opportunity for growth and career advancement it also creates a closed-minded management team which has little experience outside of the company. This dramatically diminishes diversity leading to limitations in innovation, cultural growth and development, and employee satisfaction. The many drawbacks of a weak or toxic culture follow, high turnover, low morale, diminished customer service, and poorer overall experience for everyone involved.
