Pros

Pretty Easy, basic retail sales

Cons

Requirement of wearing a shirt and tie. I don't mind wearing it, but it seems quite unnecessary for a low-quality sporting goods chain.

Easy job, but low pay

Pros

The people at my particular store, from management down, are really fun to work with and have a really laid back style. Customer interactions make up the vast majority of the job, which can make it fun and interesting. Great experience in sales.

Cons

The dress code doesn't match the style and theme of the company, and can be a pain to comply with. Pay is very low, with less than acceptable raises despite employee performance. Hours vary greatly throughout the year and are by no means guaranteed for sales associates. Corporate structure is incredibly inefficient, and often the stores are not provided with the materials (replacing broken equipment, getting simple repairs done, etc) needed to keep the store running as efficiently as possible. Nearly all product knowledge is expected to be attained by the sales associate without any sort of training. Many associates are completely illiterate in terms of basic knowledge of shoes, equipment, etc.

Pros

Very professional and accommodating. A great way to learn about retail sales and up sales.

Cons

There are always challenges with jobs and I think just getting a regular schedule would be nice.
