Pros

The only Pro is the ability to move between different big 5 locations very easily by submitting a transfer request.

Cons

Big 5 used to offer things like free benefits and cheap co pays as added benefits for their employees. They now charge an absurd amount for benefits, both medical and dental, and have recently DOUBLED the co pay charge when seeing a Doctor. Monotony and extended long hours with little to NO praise about the hard job you've done should really detour you from a management position with this company. It takes a million horizontal moves before you get one lateral promotion up the chain. The music is also insanely outdated, humdrum and depressing. Update your music and your image to sync with the times already..

Pros

This place is great for customers who want to buy affordable sporting goods. This is where it pretty much ends.

Cons

Training is virtually non-existent. HR middle management has huge problems with favoritism, ganging up on those who don't agree, and going back and forth between decisions.
