Pros

Good hours, mostly good people to work with, ample opportunities to make a difference and affect change, good exposure to senior managers, flexible work schedule, laid back culture, good/smart opinions are valued, young and energetic colleagues

Cons

Many people in other groups are apathetic/unwilling to put in the time to do a good job. Some of the executive management appear to lack the experience and knowledge to run a billion dollar company.

Pros

Overstock.com is a great place to work,. 1) They are open to trying new things. 2) They are always trying to stay on the leading edge with their marketing efforts and IT. 3) They truly care about their customers, listen to their customers and react to their customers' feedback. 4) There is a ton of information available to all employees which empowers them to successfully do their job. 5) There is definitely a work hard/ play hard mentality that trickles from the top down. 6) There is no tolerance for lying 7) Everyone is very open about sharing knowledge. 8) From a benefits standpoint, the company does a great job of offering the best they can at a fair price. 9) There is a great sense around furthering education in all fields 10) There is a sense of balance between life at work and life outside of work. 11) Executives do a great job trying to lead by example. I would recommend Overstock.com to anyone as the leaders and employees always strive to do what is right and what is fair for its employees and customers.

Cons

1) There is a very clear separation between departments and collaboration is somewhat limited. In turn, if a merchandising team gets a great deal and purchases it, the marketing team doesn't necessarily create a marketing promotion around it. Instead, marketing creates promotions and appropriate product is then selected. 2) There is an incredible "buddy buddy" system at Overstock.com. Like the rest of the world, it's very much about who you know that can help one move within the company. 3) The timeframe in which communication spreads throughout the company is weak. In turn, often employees are finding out about key changes at the same time as non-employees which is often after the fact. 4) There is some lack of respect for some executives as they seem to know little about what's truly occuring in pieces of the business but have not problems swiftly making changes.

Pros

Overstock prides itself on being a customer service-oriented company that helps consumers save money. The atmosphere is fairly fun and yet professional. On a personal level I look forward to seeing my co-workers and being at work every day. I think my manager and others over me are interested in utilizing my skills and ultimately promoting me.

Cons

I've never seen a company that waffles so much on so many issues. Several promises made to me have not been fulfulled. I feel I am not evaluated on all key aspects of my position (and therefore not fairly) and the pay is downright lousy--I cannot live on this entry-level salary, even with roommates.
