Pros

Where to start. The new building we are in is pretty outstanding. It requires people to walk and get exercise. None of which is a bad thing. There are a multitude of healthy choices food wise in the cafe. There is a doctors office onsite, a day care, a gym, and a greenhouse. Classes are offered to teach employees how to do new hinge, to grow food, to build skills in excel. It's amazing..

Cons

Bad managers exist, but when some are called out for being bad. Nothing happens to them, but a slap on the wrist. Some teams are completely ignored that are vital to the companies growth. However, they get little to no attention, and they could be so much more productive in helping the bottom line. There are no resources given to recognize these teams or realize the full potential. New initiatives are great and good, but.. so many older initiatives need to continue to be acknowledged as well.

Thank you so much for sharing your positive experience and your valuable feedback. We really appreciate that even though you recognize we're not perfect, you still believe we're worth 5 stars. We think so too. It’s great to hear that our efforts to provide a vibrant, innovative, and caring work environment are paying off. Regarding the cons you mention and your advice: We hope you participated in our recent Leadership Feedback survey. The results of these assessments will be used to roll out training so that our leaders can improve their skills as managers, and hopefully some of the issues you mention will be resolved.

Pros

The social aspect of the company is great. You will easily make friends with their open environments and all of their company celebrations. You will play hard and work hard.

Cons

Leadership has a chip on their shoulder. Management doesn't last long and it feels very cutthroat at times.

Pros

Nice building with a lot of great features.

Cons

Terrible communication. I was hired on and worked there for 6 DAYS when they randomly decided I was no longer a "good fit" because I didn't know an Excel formula (EVEN THOUGH I TOLD THEM I DIDN'T KNOW ANY EXCEL FORMULAS IN MY INTERVIEW) - told them I was a fast learner & very tech savvy and would have no issues picking up on it. I learned the formula in just a few days. I was the one that took the initiative to receive feedback and was reassured that I was doing great. I had every reason to believe everything was going well, when one day I was pulled into an office by the manager and let go because I wasn't "doing well enough." After being let go, I found out that they hired someone for that position internally. I wish if I wasn't doing well enough they would have reached out to me and set a goal or at least make me aware that there was something I needed to improve on. It makes no sense that I was let go without any communication. I guess Overstock is notorious for being very disorganization, making random layoffs (just read some of the other reviews) and lacking in communication, so be cautious.

Thank you for your review. We were able to investigate this incident and it appears that some basic skills required for the job were either misrepresented or misunderstood during the interview process. We are working on improving our skillset screening processes in place so that we can avoid these types of mistakes in the future. It could have saved both you and Overstock time and energy.
