Excessive interference from corporate management in daily operations. The implementation and management of expensive and counter-productive corporate mandates decreases the efficiency of the mines. Also the amount of debt amassed by the corporate leadership has put the company in a very difficult position.

Lower gold price and heaps of debt do not look good for the future of Barrick. They are selling off assets and employee morale has suffered significantly because of this coupled with pathetic politics. Top level exec's are micromanaging lower level employees and making the situation worse because they are pulling at straws instead of making informed decisions. Top Corporate management needs an overhaul. The mines are well run by experienced people and Corporate just gets in the way of efficient mine operations. The higher a monkey climbs the more you see of his behind.
