Pros

Lots of pros with the company. Good pay, benefits, etc. A positive culture in the plant.

Cons

Company policies make is much more beneficial to go into a buisness role rather than the plant, which is driving great professionals away from manufacturing. Additionally, the diverisity push has hurt morale with a lot of workers because they feel like they do not have a chance to advance due to their diversity status.

Pros

Its a big company that can take some amount of downturn before laying off. There is a push to provide more work/life balance, but it has yet to be really embraced. If you are a chemical engineer, you dont have many choices so you just bite the bullet and take what management hands down.

Cons

This used to be one of the best companies to work for. Can I recommend it anymore? NO. I have been with the company for over 15 years and slowly watched benefits and companionship erode. First it was the pension program (switching from traditional to portable) , then it was pay freeze, then health benefits were cut. Stock plan was taken away. Then you had to pay more for the benefits you did have. Then they took away vacation carry over. Most recently, there are no more merit increases (raises) , but they claim to give more of a bonus once a year. If the company does bad, well no bonus. Sound like a place you would want to work? Think hard my firend....

Pros

Salary and benefits are great. Also BASF caters to the prevailing winds of political correctness.

Cons

Senior management is under extreme pressure to return unrealistic ROI each year and often agree to bad organizational decisions in order to keep moving to other positions before the results of the bad decisions are realized.
