Pros

Interesting, challenging and dynamic work

Cons

The work environment can be described in three words: rigid, demeaning and not family friendly. There is very little flexibility when it comes to the work environment at the tax department. Employees are expected to come/leave at the same time even so management claims that there is flexibility and in reality, it does not work. If employees have personal situations and need to come in/leave earlier, get ready to be called to the management’s office and have a conversation. Instead of trusting employees that the work will get done, no trust is being built but rather fear/control-based environment is present. Employees are being put down in front of the whole team. Saying things like “why this takes you so long”, “this is so simple you should know this at your level” … are normal practice of the upper management. People looking for a family friendly work environment should stay away from the tax department. This place will put employees in a position to choose between family or work.
