Pros

Salary compensation is probably above average. Benefits are pretty good. The engineers (who are left) are great people to work with -- talented, dedicated, smart.

Cons

Jobs continue to move offshore (mainly India). Avaya doesn't hire college graduates anymore (hasn't for some time). Internally, there is a lack of communication about which products will continue to be developed (and how) and which will not. Sales data about products is not openly shared, so you have no idea if the product you helped develop for the past year is impacting the market or not.

Pros

The salary they dish out @pune..uh..actually...the salary they "used to" dish out.

Cons

Venture in only if you can stomach the politics. Senior technical staff usually comprises of ppl good at conflict resolution & collaborating with other initiatives..and less of people who like to "create' software. Managers - project managers & technical managers both - would find it hard to make a decent impression in any other product company. Most benefits on offer currently suck.

Pros

I find the people I work with are very knowledgeable people, with above average intelligence. I believe that our people are [at least can be] a great differentiator between Avaya and our competitors. We have great technology, developed incredibly smart people--- I don't think we do as well at disseminating knowledge as we used to, from documentation to training. I still appreciate the ability to work with market leader and cutting-edge technologies, which are superior to most [if not all our] competitors. I think that most of us enjoy our work and the only negative for most of us is the constant threat of cut backs.

Cons

Too many lay-offs, not agressive enough about competing or getting the word out about our superior products.
