Pros

Standard benefits. One day to work from home. Generally good spirit in the office.

Cons

Terrible code base, no documentation. Everything is home made, not a single standard tool, so at the end you will master anything useful to your next career move.

Hi, thanks for giving us feedback! Avature is a huge, huge platform. We have a product that’s resisted the test of time for over 10 years, while being flexible enough to serve the needs of a really wide range of customers. We know that being a sort of classic AMP application has a lot of benefits, but we also understand how interesting cutting edge technology is, and how it can helps us face future technical challenges. That is why we now constantly review current JS and PHP frameworks and have built many proofs of concept on how to include them in our current stack. If the cost-benefit ratio doesn’t justify it, we use the new knowledge to improve our frameworks, and then spread the acquired experience to improve our teams by comparing and explaining how they all relate to each other. We are also working on leveraging modern DevOps tools and applications, and pushing hard to improve our internal documentation while working on the architecture of our code base. We must do this while supporting our more than 650 clients, so it surely is a fun ride!

Thanks for the feedback and all the positive comments! For the most part, we think that “feeling like a start-up at times” is a feature, not a bug. We understand where you’re coming from, but we do want to maintain a “small company” feel internally. Hopefully, as we continue to grow, we can take everything good about becoming a larger company without losing that. We have taken, and continue to take, great strides in the direction of making mobility –and, with that, knowing where you stand in the company- a clearer process. We hope that since the time of this posting, you have found that we’ve improved in this area.

A convenient company to take your career to the next level

Pros

The best of all it's the professionalism of their staff. Even though I joined Avature as a senior developer, I haven't stopped growing as a programmer, thanks to my workmates and my superior. The company is also growing rapidly. That leads to a number of opportunities in your career, as new teams are often created. We should keep up-to-date in our professional area so as to be able to face daily challenges. Technologically, we are encouraged to suggest improvements, even in those areas which do not fall in our daily-work scope. Not that important to me, but also their perks, as well as flexitime. And last but not least, its multicultural environment. Here we have the opportunity to work with people from all over the world. In addition, English is the official language, which is a plus for those that like me are looking forward to improving their English level.

Cons

The development team works with custom libraries and frameworks. Certainly, this has a lot of advantages. However, the learning curve is slower that in other similar companies. You'll get a lot of useful knowledge from their tools, but not as much knowledge as if you had worked for a company which relies more heavily on standard frameworks and libraries.
