Hey! Thank you for providing feedback, we appreciate it. While we don’t currently offer paid education, we always strive to have an environment of free-flowing information, where teams are encouraged to share their knowledge. With that said, we have increased our offering of in-house training programs and have recently given all Avaturians additional days off to attend academic events. As for mobility, there are certainly growth opportunities within Avature, but we have an open, organic process for progression that’s sometimes harder to pin down than a more rigid approach. We’re working on giving this process greater visibility.

A convenient company to take your career to the next level

Pros

The best of all it's the professionalism of their staff. Even though I joined Avature as a senior developer, I haven't stopped growing as a programmer, thanks to my workmates and my superior. The company is also growing rapidly. That leads to a number of opportunities in your career, as new teams are often created. We should keep up-to-date in our professional area so as to be able to face daily challenges. Technologically, we are encouraged to suggest improvements, even in those areas which do not fall in our daily-work scope. Not that important to me, but also their perks, as well as flexitime. And last but not least, its multicultural environment. Here we have the opportunity to work with people from all over the world. In addition, English is the official language, which is a plus for those that like me are looking forward to improving their English level.

Cons

The development team works with custom libraries and frameworks. Certainly, this has a lot of advantages. However, the learning curve is slower that in other similar companies. You'll get a lot of useful knowledge from their tools, but not as much knowledge as if you had worked for a company which relies more heavily on standard frameworks and libraries.

Pros

Good people to work with, good environment and decent salary.

Cons

If you are a manager they will expect you to deal with situations without providing you with the mans to fix them. You will be alone and you better not complain if you do not want to be 'let go'. No support from VPs. They don't want to hear about your (or your team's) problems. They won't talk to you honestly, they love to avoid going to the point so you will never know what's really going on. CEO loves micromanaging and believes in the 'warm chair' driven development.

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience with us. There are two sides to every story, so I do want to clarify we encourage open conversation, questioning the status quo and escalating problems. That doesn't mean we can take action on everything a manager escalates. I also want to say that we are a private company growing out of revenue and that means sometimes resources are scarce and workload can get high. We are doing our best to alleviate this. Our CEO relocating to Madrid took some adjusting, but we are improving the relationship with the office by the day.
