Shortly after starting, both the reporting structure and the nature of the work changed from what was described during the interview process. In practice, the role functioned as Level 1 operational support rather than senior engineering work. This was not a temporary transition, and there was no clear path for the role to evolve into what was originally presented. Concerns raised about this mismatch were not meaningfully addressed. This experience may not apply to every team, but candidates interviewing for senior technical roles should ask very direct questions about: the exact day-to-day responsibilities how much of the role is operational support whether the reporting structure is stable

Career growth is limiting (not a lot of turnover of senior roles), reorgs are constant
