Pros

The people are awesome. The corporate goals are aspirational, environmentally conscious, diverse workplace. The products are key in AEC, not so much in MFG. M&E is on life support. The math around subscription model will prove out by holding customers hostage via constant price increases and forcing the move to subscription. Customers that use this technology really cannot move because the projects last so long and cost of retrainiing and redoing designs is prohibitive .

Cons

Painful consensus decision making process means lowest common denominator usually wins. Accountability in product development is notably lacking, allowing start ups to out innovate. Autodesk only brings innovation to market via acquisition. This should never happen in a company with thousands of developers. Many people hanging on due to large stock run up last few years. Confusing and constantly changing product lineup: suites, mini suites, collections, and autocad one box designed to confuse customers and keep them from realizing that they are paying a lot more for the sale stuff they used for 10 years or more.

Pros

Pretty good compensation and benefits, some work from home.

Cons

Zero job security or opportunities for advancements: 10% layoff last year, 13% this year. Consulting is an afterthought to this company, there is no consistent direction and the new CEO clearly has the Consulting organization in the crosshairs, as it was hit to the tune of 30%. Prepare to be nothing but a speck of dust in the wind.

Pros

Great benefits, normal salary, lenient schedules.

Cons

Technical Support in particular is in shambles. They are turning it into a revolving door of under-qualified, under-paid, call center personnel. I have been here 1 year and change and have seen 2 MASSIVE layoffs, and other cherry picking of laying off others. NO ONE IS HAPPY with the current state of the support organization. From what I hear, other departments are not in as bad of shape, but global customer support is being run by people who have very unclear, and illogical decision making abilities. There is NO room for advancement... that would mean more work for middle management that holds it thumb on you (for 8+ years in some cases)... they would have to backfill your position.
