Pros

- People I met for even a short time at Ashoka became lifelong friends - The community of fellows and changemakers are constantly inspiring - Flexible work schedule - Making even small positive changes there feels huge and effects people who are making a difference in the world

Cons

- Classist culture and hiring system that overtly alienates people who don't have enough generational wealth to endure an 8-12 month hiring process, have a terrible salary, and have no upward mobility. - Hiring process encourages you to share about your life history / trauma - Culture comes from a respect for white tower education and flowery language and not actual action and movement building - ED has founders syndrome and a chokehold on random projects of his choosing that he has zero expertise in. The leadership are selected based on whether or not he likes them, not based on their skills. The people who have actual on the ground experience and a diversity of identities are at the lowest levels, receiving the lowest pay, and cannot stay long unless they have (again) generational wealth. - So much time, talent, and resources wasted because the people in charge are making decisions that make no sense

Pros

Ability to entrepreneur as long as CEO doesn’t know about it . Ashoka fellow network has created powerful impact which inspires however..........

Cons

CEO has forgotten what leadership means. Most of senior leadership are in place (with a few exceptions) to agree with the CEO . Department heads are pitted against each other creating an environment of tension and I’ll will

Pros

The colleagues you work with are the best part of this organization. You'll work with some of the most passionate and hard working people you could ever come across.

Cons

The mission is where it ends. This organization doesn't practice what it preaches. The institution is very backwards and outdated. White male privledge is prevalent amongst leadership and it shows in their decisions. As a mid level employee you will have your ideas recycled as theirs and get no credit. Just look at the website to get an idea of how confusing they are. They're just as confused internally. I have six years web experience and the person/ team charged to revamp the website is called the "framechange" team and is lead by someone with no web experience. You can't have someone making decisions without the experience and knowledge to back it up. You're constantly pulled into multiple projects regardless of your skills and experience so nothing is ever done with expertise. The finances are shady and while most people at the company are honest there are a lot of shady practices at a high level which trickle down and create a very negative experience for those who are hard working.
