Pros

Good reputation, good welcome package

Cons

No flexible hybrid working - The company is using individual data from the entrance system to see who is coming to the office, resulting people want to quit since this also goes against data privacy policies ! In some Countries that ARM has offices that's even illegal by the government ... Poor salary compared to competition, not enough opportunities for promotion.

Thank you for your review. Arm, like any other business, is continually evaluating the most appropriate working practices across its global teams, with a focus on ensuring the most productive and positive experience for our people. We are committed to working in a flexible, hybrid way because we believe it’s the best way to build the Arm community while enabling personal choice and inclusion. Most of our people are based in an office and since 2022 have been required to attend a minimum of one or two days a week depending on the work they do, with many choosing to use the office more frequently than this. We have an exceptions process for those whose personal circumstances mean they have different needs. We are transparent with our people about what data we collect and how it is used, working with employee forums, representatives, and other bodies as necessary before reporting is introduced – you can read more on the privacy and data protection pages of the Legal intranet site. If you would like to help shape our evolving hybrid working approach, visit the Hybrid Working intranet site and contact a member of the team to be part of upcoming focus groups.

Pros

The engineering peers are great and the work is really interesting.

Cons

Poor management. Most of the managers are engineers that just want to be individual contributors. They climbed the ranks by writing great code, not by managing people, and most of the time these 2 skillsets don't come together. Executive level became so opaque. There is a constant feeling of mistrust towards them. Raise and promotion system feels unfair. There is no anonymity related to peer feedback and most of the time they're not even considered. The entire process is opaque. Poor pay and benefits compared to top tech companies. Outdated mentality related to remote working and hybrid working.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. It’s true that many managers joined Arm as individual contributors, but you don't have to be a manager to progress your career at Arm – we have a number of Fellows who are individual contributors. Managers do have a huge influence on someone’s experience of Arm, which is why the People team is working on providing more guidance – we’ll share more information on this soon. Transparency around pay rises and promotions is important to us, which is why feedback in the myDevelopment system is not anonymous. For more details about how Annual and Mid-Year review works, search for “Annual Review” on People Hub. Our commitment is to reward people competitively and equitably for the work they do and the skills and experience they bring to Arm, differentiating on performance and external market dynamics. If you have any questions that aren’t answered in the Knowledge Article, or you have any questions about reward, you can use the live chat on People Hub to speak to a member of the People team directly. Finally, we haven’t stopped doing pulse surveys. We just ran the 2023 Life at Arm Annual Survey and hope you have participated and shared your experiences of Arm.
