Pros

- Really friendly team, full sense of comradery -Working on collection in my experience was by far the most rewarding, you are surrounded by supportive colleagues and shifts seem to fly by. -OK pay -10% discount and occasional store bonuses if you meet targets

Cons

-Expect working hours to be reduced by HALF after christmas -Peak times can be very stressful and hectic -Unfair rewards system, the love2shop rewards system is ok for people on tills who have a way to recognise achievements such as through argos cards and amount of care sold, but for people working in the stockrooms there is no real way of recognising achievements so the majority of your hard work often goes unnoticed -If working in the stockroom picking items and/or putting away delivery expect to leave each shift completely exhausted and drained, it is seen as the "easiest" job in terms of simplicity but it is by far the most physically demanding and stressful, as well as being very repetitive . -Uneven distribution of staff amongst the store, the managers seem to think that having 2 people on tills, 2 on collection and only 1 person upstairs picking is efficient and they wonder why there are delays when 10+ orders come in at a time -My store is quite large so there is an upstairs stockroom where the majority of picking is done and where most of the delivery is put away, during quiet spells the people downstairs tend to have a bit of banter and a chat, this can make you feel left out when you are standing upstairs with nothing to do and no one to talk to. -*FOR STUDENTS* if you tell your manager you are currently in education chances are they will put you in early morning weekend shifts, so expect to miss a lot of nights out if you don't want to turn up to a 9am start with a blistering hangover

Pros

flexible hours and good opportunities to further your career within the company via instore learning system OPENDOOR Good range of benefits Ideal for students

Cons

Too much focus on sometimes impossible targets. Very poor stock room management - nowhere near enough space in warehouse for amount of stock that gets received to work effectively and safely, Bulk items in particular are a real hindrance. Inferior equipment stockroom equipment - A standard 'old and barely working' pump truck is used to receive pallets, that are sometimes in excess of 1 ton!
