Pros

Great benefits and pay, very talented people in the trenches, Company is always landing awesome interesting projects. if you are a yes person a long career awaits you.

Cons

Most Management if you can call it that are illusionist and add no value to the bottom line , since they deal with other illusionist their job is to always keep the illusion going that they actually know what they doing and add value to the company, they never get called out on bad decisions due the fact their colleagues are all playing the same game, this would explain project after project being out of budget and nothing has ben done except thousands of hours billed to the project of management one upping each other that they are the better illusionist . In addition there is a us vs. them mentality with all the various companies brought under one roof and no teambuilding whatsoever it seams no one driving the ship.

Pros

Some really great people work there, they have a nice staff canteen, the hours arent too long if you are clever about what work you do.

Cons

Poor pay - EC Harris pays well below the competition. I managed to get a 40% pay rise by leaving, only when I handed in my notice did they make me an offer commensurate with market rates. Poor Progression - Even when I had agreed to take on more responsibility and secured a promotion they didnt want to provide a pay rise! Poor training - As any surveyor will know, the APC and training is of major importance, I was promised the world! Actually, I was given very little support. Once I had raised some issues around my job, they provided even less training on the grounds of "you will just get chartered and leave". I was then informed that they dont like to train people for their apc if they havent been there at least 18 months, overall pretty poor! Poor management - well the list above kind of says it all!

Pros

ARCADIS as a company enables staff to engage in a large number of diverse projects. The company has developed a significant internal knowledge sharing network, which enables employees to continue to learn while on the job.

Cons

The dynamic of the workplace differs significantly between locations. ARCADIS has grown significantly through acquisitions; therefore, there are still several barriers to break down between employees from different backgrounds (previous companies). A principal internal complaint with ARCADIS is that they management does not look out for the junior staff. The supervisors and mentors in my experience have taken significant interest in investing in the junior staff, but the management style and method of establishing performance metrics often negatively affects the younger staffers.
