Pros

1. Great benefits and competitive salaries 2. Very good/ developed career tracks 3. Good opportunities for career development 4. Lots of great, talented staff 5. Great technical resources (staff and training materials)

Cons

1. Too much change - mergers, changing goals, loss of great employees 2. Too much focus on corporate and not enough local focus - managers have to worry too much about answering to corporate and not enough time answering to local personnel needs/morale 3. They often set the bar too high. Don't get me wrong it's great to push for success but you can't always expect success 4. Hard to maintain work life balance 5. Like most consulting jobs sometimes can be very demanding (time and otherwise) 6. Too focused on yesterday's numbers and less focused on the outcomes and future

Pros

Arcadis is a huge multi-skilled organisation supplemented with recent mergers and acquisitions. Pros of this include: - Loads of opportunities to develop (there is an online training academy as well as focussed courses and programmes for different teams) as a person and in your career; - Can contact technical experts across the globe to increase knowledge. There are also technical communities where anyone interested in a topic can get involved in driving that topic forward; - In the environment part of the business at least there is a non-hierarchical approach so you can take as much responsibility as you want to, and will be supported in pushing yourself further; - On a practical note, performance-based evaluation is undertaken yearly with bonuses available yearly and market review of pay undertaken as well. There are also other spot bonus and recognition schemes available; - You can work flexibly (from basically any of the offices or from home) and there is strong support for people to find working patterns that suit them (new parents etc).

Cons

Because of the size of the company it can sometimes be hard to tell where your position fits into the bigger picture. However, I think this will improve with time as recent mergers mature and more contacts are made. Senior leadership often run meetings to discuss what is going on at a strategic level, and there is a "People Forum" for direct engagement with the workforce.
