Pros

-- Good compensation compared to other jobs -- Flexible hours -- Coworkers on the lower levels are great people -- Everyone here is extremely smart and talented

Cons

-- Long hours all the time. It's expected that you work 12 hour days, and that you come in on weekends. Because of this, your hourly compensation is actually pretty bad. -- No work / life balance at all. Don't know how people with families can survive working at this company. -- Management won't allow more resources / hiring even though it will clearly help teams accomplish more work

Pros

There used to be a lot of good reasons to work here. It's kinda hard to think of any now. I guess if you like working crazy hours and constant fire-fighting, constant change, then you would love it here because you will never get bored.

Cons

Management is so intent on turning all their RFT's into contractors, that we are losing talent everyday. And along with that talent goes a lot of knowledge that increasingly makes our daily activities harder.

Pros

Cutting edge technology, semiconductor industry. Amazing coworkers

Cons

Mike Splinter, board of directors. Failed solar strategy. Lack of focus on core business - semiconductor. Major customers are highly annoyed at AMAT support for new and existing products... Outsourcing jobs to China. Sending highly valuable/sensitive and technical data/patents to China. Poor compensation. Over 24 months of shutdowns, 25% paycut. Multiple layoffs. Zero pay adjustments in three years, no stock options being granted to regular employees right now. Further job uncertainty over next 18months. CEO and board of directors are not even listening to senior Silicon group managers.
