Pros

Great for green, inexperienced opportunities for those right out of college.

Cons

Opportunities aren't so great for current employees. Most opportunities opening up now come from current employees leaving the company for better opportunities with competitive companies. AB also does not pay the "starting pay" listed on company job postings when you are looking to promote.

Pros

For a new college graduate or for someone who does not have any ties (house/family) the opportunity for growth is tremendous. If you perform and are relocatable you can get promoted almost yearly. You have to be both though, if you are not relocatable it is career limiting Free Beer Casual work environment Flexible hours once you hit mid to upper management. The exception is if you are a line supervisor, you are worked like a dog, long hours and mandatory weekend work although overtime is paid. There is a bonus program Short term disability program is excellent.

Cons

The sharing of the billions in profits the company has stops around the top 40 executives, they share it quite well amongst themselves. The company has gone to great lengths to maximize those profits, salaried employee benefits and were some of the first to be slashed to save money. Medical benefits are mediocre at best - monthly premiums are high, large out of pocket expenses if you use insurance. ZERO funding allocated for real professional development. Everything is internal, no money for external training, conferences or networking opportunities. If you are not relocatable forget about promotions and raises, they do not exist. The bonus program pays less than 50% of what is advertised, one year it was 0. Targets conflict and are designed to conflict each other.
