Pros

Competitive salary Some really nice people Interesting business

Cons

Culture is horrible. Senior management are misogynistic and only interested in lining their own pockets. The only women who get on there are those who keep their heads down and don’t rock the boat. If you speak up your job is “restructured” out. Lots don’t speak up because the pay and benefits are good. The best managers leave

Pros

Some good memories of the past

Cons

Working at Anglo American has become an exercise in frustration and uncertainty. The recent restructuring efforts have completely upended any sense of stability, with sweeping changes that seem more focused on appeasing shareholders than supporting employees. The decision to divest key assets like Anglo American Platinum and potentially De Beers has left many of us wondering whether we’ll even have jobs in the near future. The ongoing consultations for job cuts in both the UK and South Africa have only fueled anxiety, making it clear that the company values cost-cutting over the well-being of its workforce. Morale is at an all-time low. While Anglo American offers competitive salaries, that’s hardly enough to compensate for the toxic culture and poor management decisions that have defined this transition. This once-respected company has now become a place where uncertainty and job insecurity rule the day. Employees are expected to continue performing at a high level while the ground crumbles beneath them. If Anglo American continues down this path, it will lose not only assets but also the dedicated workforce that once made it successful.
