Pros

Cultural diversity ----------------------- Working here is an opportunity to meet people from all works of life, giving you the opportunity to observe the world from a different perspective. Andela employees are made up of people from literally all over the world. Lots of Smart People -------------------------- The people you will meet at the company are pretty smart, due to the size of the company, you can find someone who knows a thing or two about something you are interested in or perhaps a problem you have been trying to solve. They are also willing to try out new things and help you out if the need arises. Travel Opportunities -------------------------- Aside from its diversity, there are opportunities to travel around the world in other to better understand the culture of those you work with. You don't have to pay for your necessary travel expenses and you are also assisted in terms of visa processing and other necessary expenses. Opportunity to grow --------------------------- The company also provides a growth path for her employees. Especially for those in the tech department, there are numerous ways you can grow from Hackathons to tutorial subscriptions sponsored by the company, contributing to open source and lots more. Social Activities -------------------- There are tons of social activities to help ease out the trees faced while working on the company. From company-wide outing to friday night parties, social games, free breakfast and lunch, and lots more. The ergonomics of the company's office space help to facilitate productivity and a better work ethic. People also are a lot nice

Cons

Rapid Change in Policy ---------------------------- As a startup, the company is still trying to figure out what works best for them and this leads to changes in policies within the company that affects her employees. Salary & Promotion (I can only speak of the tech department) ------------------------------------------------------------ Base on its model, you are paid what they think you are worth based on a number of factors as opposed to how much time is committed to working or how experienced you are. The problem here is you can have people place in the same "level" with different performance and still paid the same salary. The same goes for promotions Learning Style ------------------ Its model of teaching or passing knowledge to the new recruits especially developers with no experience needs improvement.

Pros

Andela gives you the opportunity to solve problems that actually make an impact on the world. The job is so much more satisfying than selling software or working at an overhyped startup. It's really cool when the daily aspects of your job provide value to top tech companies while also helping bring opportunity to underserved communities in developing countries.

Cons

Scaling any startup comes with its own set of challenges. Scaling an international startup that relies on human capital for growth is even more challenging. The leadership in place is great but when you are doing something unique for the first time there are definitely aspects of the job that are learned on the fly.

Pros

- Smart coworkers with diverse backgrounds from non-profits, ed-tech, SaaS companies, etc. Coming from a tech background, it's the most diverse environment I've ever worked in, and it makes such a difference. - Amazing mission with a sustainable business model - I definitely feel like my work contributes to the company's goals - Since the last funding round, have been able to attract new talent who have 'done it' before and are providing strong structure to the company

Cons

- A lot of Andelans started at the company 2-3 years ago, and the challenges we're facing has significantly changed. Management needs to do a better job in investing in those employees so they can level up as the company scales - I find the work rewarding and challenging, but don't have the best work-life balance. That varies though, by position and level.
