Pros

At the time i was there the pay and benifits were pretty good. this was over a year ago.

Cons

Where do I begin I grew up with a wonderful impression of the Red Cross. Always wanted to work for this organization. I will no longer support them except disaster relief. I tell all my friends to not donate with them unless its at one of there permanate sites. Training was a joke, as a former paramedic, they are not very clean. Must where a face shield or a plastic table shield for a finger stick but use many items with out cleaning them between each donor. I asked them at what point do they clean there cloth style blood pressure cuffs, never. I asked what happens if blood gets on it, they said they would try and clean it up with something. Felt like I was back in middle school. Workers are stuck up and rude to each other and donors. Im a people person and they discourage and frown on you for talking with the donors. Get them in and out quick. Be warned that there is a probationary period used so if you dont fit into to there click or like you that can get rid of you without a reason why. They let me go, im very good at reading people and situations. Biggest reason they let me go was i asked to many questions. I wanted to learn and grow and understand. If you want to stay in this job, keep your mouth shut, dont ask any questions, dont talk to the donors and work your butt off at the job sites even though half of the team sits and watches while they eat or talk on their phones. I was so disappointed in this organization. I looked at reviews like mine before i started at red cross and told myself these were just bitter people making an accuss to bash them cuz things didnt go there way. I believe every word that has been written. There are some reviews that try and say something nice but you can tell they are trying to "be nice"

Pros

Decent pay with overtime. Not a lot of pros to mention. I'm sorry at this time I can't think of any pros.

Cons

Doesn't care about their staff. No incentives. Favoritism. Stress among staff is horrible. Worked there more than 10 years and has gotten horribly worse. Lousy health and dental insurance.
