Great personal development opportunities, managers really do care about your development and moving up in the company.

Cons

Pay, and even tough there are many options to move up those are limited if you don't wish to work in the non-profit and disaster sector all your career.

It is a good organization to put on your resume as they’re well known.

Cons

Unfortunately the majority of the workforce is under qualified and predominantly diversity or “friend” hires with no thought to skill levels. In addition, it is rare to find staff working there that are passionate about the humanitarian aspect of the job and rather find ways to do the least amount of work for the majority of the day. You won’t help customers and if you try it won’t get further than you. Managers and directors are stagnant and not qualified for their positions. It is a shame that such a well known organization lacks actual empathy and compassion. If you’re looking for a 9-5 this may be a good place for you. However, if you’re looking for a non profit to do your best most impactful work, I’d consider one of the many worthy ones out there—this is not one of them.
