Pros

Great benefits, stable working environment, great insight into the field, proud to be a part of the org, friendly coworkers

Cons

Very small raises, will deny raises on technicalities that are not your fault, most people work there for 10 years without a promotion, not as much cross training as I would have liked, very uptight atmosphere sometimes (but you ARE testing blood that could kill someone)

Pros

Gives you hands on experience in any field you want to go into. Also constantly has positions opening or classes and training to take to further your career. Management is easy to talk to and constantly open to new ideas. Also reviews are given in a fair manner.

Cons

Some people are standoffish outside of your department. Other problem is you are working for a non-profit agency, so the pay isn't the greatest when first starting, but those that have been promoted higher up, get paid fairly well. In certain departments you have to work around everyone's schedule if you want a day off.

Pros

Amazing benefits, including a 401K and 403B, a pension (what's that word?) and generous vacation. Great people. Walk the talk re: work/life balance.

Cons

Organization seems in a constant state of reorg. Zero-tolerance for mistakes/errors in a regulated environment means a good deal of organizational and personal pressure to perform flawlessly.
