Ineffective management; inability to solve recurring problems; territorial culture from dept level on down; high-stress shift work, steep learning curve; low morale, high turnover; refuse to fire underperforming/unprofessional staff; few opportunities for professional growth and advancement.

Helping others; Red cross is a great organization; much of the work that the organization as a whole provides is worthwhile.

Cons

There are very few opportunities for volunteers. I offered a very skilled work history, but they had a difficult time coming up with volunteer jobs that could utilize my skills. The type of volunteer jobs they had available were such that anyone could do.
