The worst company I have worked for
Pros
Some teams are better than other, 50% of co-workers are nice. Free umbrella in the rain which is nice in Seattle weather.
Cons
1. No appreciation of individual: you work here you will never feel appreciated. You can be replaced anytime 2. Overwork: there is no time to ramp up and no useful training/help. You will find yourself under really high pressure and work over weekend. Management does not give you time to ramp up, 3 months is considered very long here. 3. Cheap- cheap-cheap: Amazon, despite being very rich company, does not give you any perk, you do not have free prime, you would pay for your own Wine Wednesday/ Thirsty Thursday which is a social event required for your team (yes, you heard it right, you pay for company's social event). Lowest 401k match. There is only one type of notebook or pen you can use. No color printer. Everything is basic, cheap, and bare minimum. 5. If you go on business trip and spend more than $100 (in Las Vega dinner for example) prepare to pay for part of it. 6. Doesn't pay for your full phone bill (limit to 50) though definitely expect you to check email on phone. 7. If your monitor breaks down, prepare to physically ask for a monitor and screw driver and attach them on your monitor arms yourself. IT department here does not support request as such. It is all self service at Amazon. 8. REPORT REPORT REPORT- it is all about looking good ! Prepare to spend 50% of your time in some teams on reporting, since your managers need to look good in meetings. Very little value added work. 9. Meetings are not to discuss issue but to show/check your work. 10. Overall, most people work for paycheck, the company is so bad that no one is loyal to it, which is a clear sign.
