Allstate California Claims is Burning Down

Pros

Gain experience in auto claims.

Cons

Workload is unbearable, overtime is expected, and no job opportunities due to "extension" offices being built in Arizona. Allstate wont offer any relocation expenses to help tenured employees move to new offices. Much speculation that claims offices for California is headed towards centralization in Arizona.

Pros

Can pay a livable wage needed to support a family or someone fresh out of college dependent on experience.

Cons

Horrible work culture. This Felt like a trip back to high school. Management will actively gossip with colleagues about others personal lives and occasionally question mental health. If you don't participate in the gossip you will find your stay here very short. People stay in the same position for decades especially if they don't play along in the gossip culture/ have a horse in the race to help pull themselves up. This was my second time working for Allstate. Both times I encountered a toxic gossip/work culture that slows the company's progression. You will also be subject to strict company rules. Example: if you leave your laptop out and teathered/ locked to your desk, you will receive a fine and have your laptop removed until you go to IT and pay up. This is just one example of how heavily the company monitors you instead of just incentivizing your work.

Pros

Allstate always had a tradition of having a diverse group of people from young to more senior. I had some really good managers before they all left or were nudged out the door. I always had a good group of people on my team. Good benefits.

Cons

Was a great place to work, but in recent years there a has been a lot of layoffs. People used to pride themselves on how long they worked at Allstate, but when I left they were hiding their name tags with their years of service. Too bad, it was a great place to work.
