Pros

Crazy good benefits. They always buy food and candy for you for job well done as an office. When we have time, the office *tries* to have fun with theme days. Which defiantly breaks up the mundane.

Cons

Current downsizing. Hiring college grads instead of experienced individuals. Takes over a year for company to have enough data to make adjustments to improve workflow. If you're a claims adjuster, you'll understand that on Mondays coming into the office, expect on average 15 claims that are due either on Monday or Tuesday to make intial contact... and of course, you cannot get a hold of. And not many can call out all 15 claims while balancing pending and returning incoming calls... not to mention assisting with general inquiry calls the office receives daily. Throughout the week, claims starts to slow down, you catch up, then its back on Monday for hell.

Pros

It's better then unemployment- or that's what I used to think, at least. Working at Allstate is all about nodding and smiling and not rocking the boat. If you have a high tolerance for idiocy, then this is the job for you.

Cons

Senior management has no clue as to what is going on. Allstate is the epitome of cronyism. Advancement isn't decided by merit, rather by who you know. The technology is outdated and the servers are always going down. They blame it on the State's DMV, when in reality it is actually their server that is done. They have unrealistic expectations and when something uncontrollable goes wrong, the blame squarely falls on your shoulders- rather then recognizing the situation for what it is, and congratulating a DSP for actually using common sense.

Pros

Opportunities to move across areas (after 1 year in specific assignment). Benefits are o.k. as long as you have a spouse that has good benefits.

Cons

1) Stripes very important. 2) Too many people who just want to collect a paycheck. 3) Politics is a way of life. 4) Leaders - Some areas have great leades in place who understand the big picture, what it takes to get the job done and recognize their employees for their hard work and dedication. Other leaders are so caught up in trying to please their bosses and/or make their bonuses that they do not care how the staff is impacted or if they are doing the right thing for the front line customers.
