Pros

Opportunities to move across areas (after 1 year in specific assignment). Benefits are o.k. as long as you have a spouse that has good benefits.

Cons

1) Stripes very important. 2) Too many people who just want to collect a paycheck. 3) Politics is a way of life. 4) Leaders - Some areas have great leades in place who understand the big picture, what it takes to get the job done and recognize their employees for their hard work and dedication. Other leaders are so caught up in trying to please their bosses and/or make their bonuses that they do not care how the staff is impacted or if they are doing the right thing for the front line customers.

Pros

Due to Allstate's size there are many opportunities for you to advance your career or move to a new position for a change of pace with out having to start over with a new company.

Cons

Senior Management has no focus or direction. Every year one or two new initiatives that get pushed down that are a lot of fluff and no substance. There is a big push when it is first launched and then it just fades away because it is not leading us anywhere but in circles. Allstate is also has the mentality of you should be thankful we give you a place to work. Year after year they let very talented people walk out the door because they are not willing to pay them what the marketplace says they should be paid. The feeling is that Allstate will always be able to find someone to take their place. This tends to lead to knowledge loss and many mistakes repeating them selves. There will be a project to recreate the wheel at least once a year because they do not learn from their mistakes.
