Heavy work load

Pros

PTO, nice office, most coworkers

Cons

Horrible favoritism, like junior high lunch table. Some people getting written up and fired while others that suck up get away with doing the same things. Heavy volume of claims, working 50-60 hrs a week is the norm. Then depending on who you are, you can get made to feel you are not doing a good job because you are working so many hours. No help from management on how to improve, just constant criticism on what they feel you are doing wrong. Very high employee turn over, some people quitting within a few weeks of being hired after seeing the light. Constantly having to do work left undone by people who have left only to get reprimanded for not doing your own work.

Toxic Culture - Don’t work here

Pros

Some great people, benefits and paid are not too bad but not the best.

Cons

Some worst of the worst toxic people. The politicians have taken over versus actual hard work are being valued here. Don’t waste your time in this place. Also one of the most old school culture place I have ever worked at. Why learn other technology when Sr management only wants to use excel for 99% of the work.

Needs to get with the times

Pros

Great coworkers. Good work-life balance. Opportunities to pursue your own ideas.

Cons

Too much middle-management (cliche thing to say, but here's it very true). Lots of bureaucracy with trying to obtain data. Top management doesn't seem to understand or appreciate what the data science department does. Insurance industry moving towards technology/apps and Allstate is behind on it. Lots of reorganizations in the department (no layoffs, just employees being moved around like chess pieces). Very high turnover since every other company can pay much better. Crucial senior positions are too hard to fill. These empty positions disrupt everyone since the groups are interdependent.
