Pros

- Compensation - Sharpen your survival skills - Great learning experience

Cons

- Work/Life balance. They are global, so demanding emails pour in from overseas while you're catching much needed winks. - Sterile culture. Office activities are infrequent and thinly attended. The (very) few that survive do so because they will consistently blame others for all issues that arise. Nobody, including the leadership team, is willing to defend their team members because the smallest of issues will result in termination which leads to everyone protecting themselves at all costs. You will be told that AlixPartners is a company that invests in its people and gives them the resources necessary to do their job effectively, then quickly learn that you are desperately trying to keep management happy and that’s the only priority - there’s absolutely zero autonomy. You will be told to ignore the Glassdoor reviews because they’re just disgruntled employees. There will be promises that you have flexibility because you’re trusted to do your job and don’t need to be constantly monitored. Then you will quickly realize that you’re told what to do EVERY SINGLE step of the way. Making matters worse, the lack of professionalism is astonishing. There is no hesitation to humiliate you in meetings that include both internal colleagues and external business partners. Every day, your feet will be to the fire because the management team here believes that maximizes productivity. In reality, it leads employees to constantly operate based on fear of termination which causes undue stress and eliminates the opportunity to feel comfortable making meaningful contributions.

Pros

Annual conference held at different place each year - Venice, Miami, Athens, Berlin Bright/intelligent staff Bonus % better than most accountancy firms and consultancies Interesting, global projects with opportunity to travel. Good support and flexibility to complete professional qualifications.

Cons

(Salary) : (Charge out rate) ratio is low vs industry. Junior staff not given much responsibility and will often sit around not doing much.

Pros

Fast paced, lots of autonomy, focus a positive culture, very good pay and great benefits. Most interesting work . Chance to work with multiple clients all in "when it matters' type situations. Development is accelerated.

Cons

People are very busy and client focused, this means you often have to sort things out for yourself and be independent minded. There is lots of help here, but you have to actively take control of your own career. Travel is a constant, but if you need help and time away there are new programs to assist.
