It used to be a great place to work but.........
Pros
.- Good company reputation .- Good benefits (health insurance, extra compensation, car) .- Great co workers (most of them) .- Good quality products .- Most of the time, I feel as a part of a great team!!!
Cons
.- poor leadership. Local Managment only try to keep their jobs, and they don't know what say to the employees about the company situation around the world. They talk behind back of the employees most of the time. .- real career oportunitties only for sales people. Of course there are exceptions but it's not the rule. .- after being adquired by Novartis, Alcon culture was gone. It's not a family oriented company anymore, You have to spend 10 hours daily at job at least, what is creating a poor enviroment to work. If you don't do that, they refer to you as "uncommited employee or controversial person" .- Alcon has been firing people every months during tha last year. In the most cases, just to save costs. .- Lack of respect for experience or career, it's all about money. A lot of people with 15+ years experience has been fired. Most of them were not replaced, and if they were, new people is unexperienced or cheaper. .- Managment at HeadQurters don't really know the LatinAmerica Market. Sales Objectives are many times unreachable. .- Some people is willing to do anything to keep their jobs, so you have to watch your back daily!!!...that´s really stressful. .- There is a Compliance Program, and you have to take some "training couses" almost every month but then, your supervisor ask you to do forbidden actions, either in direct or undirect way.. It's a hard to understand. .
