Pros

Had some good fun events/parties and enjoyed most of the people that worked there

Cons

Leadership put staff under very high stress situations and it was common to have yelling/screaming in the office. It was very clique-ish. Leadership on the Spain side really made all the decisions which was frustrating.

Pros

Great teams at ground level Big and long term projects Can learn many skills if you are assertive

Cons

Demeaning bordering on immoral HR Department. No Retirement Plans offered. Retaining skilled employees is very poor. Little or no employee development, it's a fight to get a course paid that can be proven to benefit company. Do not pay professional dues.

Sinking Ship but Passengers are Nice

Pros

Some great people still work there--the general counsel, the head of development, the CFO come to mind--but it's a skeleton crew at this point staying around because of various life circumstances to keep the lights on.

Cons

The Spanish overlords. Some great people work for the company in Spain. Unfortunately, the very top management of the energy subsidiary--who make ALL of the decisions--are hopeless. They never understood the U.S. markets and consequently made or failed to make (same thing, really) good decisions about strategy and investments despite the efforts of the good folks in Chicago to help them. The current CEO of N.A. is just a night watchman, in effect. He's there for appearances, to keep the bad elements away. But he has neither a gun nor a radio. He has no authority or power (nice guy; not his fault). .
