Pros

The best reason to work for Accenture is this: Get your career jump-started fast. There is a ton of information to be had within the organization. Whether you're looking at the Grapevine or the Knowledge Exchange, the amount of information and knowledge that is available to be shared is immense. Take every opportunity to learn more and make it a priority to advance your education. The other biggest reason to work for Accenture is the people. The people around you are absolutely amazing. You work so hard to get to where you are and working at Accenture it's as if you've arrived. The people around you hold themselves to a higher standard.

Cons

The hours can be long and the recognition scarce. It's hard to know what management wants sometimes because management doesn't communicate expectations as well as they could be. It seems as though the evaluation process is a dark, sealed process where you only get ahead by knowing someone inside the process. That doesn't feel good at all. If you are a shark, proceed with caution and network constantly. Travel is a double edged sword. It can be a great opportunity to see different areas of the country and world or it can be a burden. Living life on a "business need" basis can be stressful. Potential applicant beware.

Pros

The pay is very reasonable. They offer great benefits for medical, dental, and vision. Accenture has clear defined criteria for talent they hire. Great group to work with. Most Co-workers always ready to assist. Accenture has been good at challenging me to do more, learn more, and explore skills that I wouldn't otherwise use. Accenture Consulting has a very young workforce with most analyst positions filled by new grads. Even many at the Consultant and Manager level are 20 somethings. Young = fun, with lots of opportunities for happy hours and the like. Project Format - Every project has a beginning and an end, with a specific objective.

Cons

Long hours of work often times interferes with personal pursuits outside of work. There are ways to alter my personal schedule though. Its not every day that I have to adjust. The amount of hours worked varies week to week. Another thing I want to say is there are many young, ambitious, and smart young people working there. Well, there is nothing wrong with that. But I do think they need to be tested and get more mature (I mean people skills) before putting them in charge of projects. Working in Accenture is like you are living and working in the Neverland, where you found you are surrounded by kids, yeah, one of them could be as mature and able as Peter Pan, but most are kids, lack of people skills, untested, with big ego, they are dreamers, credit takers, with all the normal behaviors of, well, kids.

Pros

Working for Accenture will mean plenty of travel (some good destinations some not so good), the opportunity to work along-side other smart people that have joined Accenture for the salary + brand and finally working for some very large clients.

Cons

Accenture doesn't offer the most personable environment and as a consultant you would be moved about onto projects sometimes without even your own knowledge. You are paid well and have a great name on your CV so in return you are expected to give most of your free time to the firm. As an employee you will need to take charge of your career and should expect little help from HR. It's a big firm so expect a lot of politics.
