Pros

-- Systematic promotion process -- Hard work and results are acknowledged and rewarded -- Great internal technical resources available -- Accenture spends a lot on training and education per capita

Cons

-- Hard for experienced hires to get into the old boys club -- Staffing on projects is chaotic and based on networking only -- Outside experience is not valued as much as Accenture experience even if outside experience is solid -- Systematic process means many people who started their career with Accenture become Managers is 4-5 years and Senior Managers in 5-7 years and their lack of expeirence shows and bewilders the clients

Pros

Agressive work schedule. You can pretty much learn about any thing you want to, your managers are more than willing to give you extra work :) Flexibility - You have all the flexibility in the world as long as the job is getting done. Work from home, weekdays off for weekends, flex-fly program - I can fly to any city every other weekend, i have to pay the taxes though. Great place to improve confidence - caeful with this one, if you are not agressive then it might fie back. I get to be on a lot of client facing roles because I'm confident, well-informed and agressive. Another dude treats it just as a job and the job treats him just like another dude.

Cons

Pay, i can get atleast a 40% increment somewhere else but I love working here too much, mostly because of all the flexibility. Performace reviews - Only thing that matters is reviews, period. Only person who has say in your reviews is your Manager. So suck up to him/her as much as you can, use your people skills. You can be the hardest worker but that doesn't matter, almost everyone who's at accenture for over two years is. Only thing while picking up a project that I see is who my manager is and how supportive he is. If I realize that he's not going to give me excellent ratings, I try and get out of that gig at god speed.

Pros

The diversity of industries in which Accenture has clients offers consulting workforce employees the ability to gain experience across the board and allows you a chance to learn more about where you want to develop.

Cons

If you've started at Accenture right out of school your salary (or lack thereof) is based entirely on your major. While they attempt to promote an image of merit based rewards chances are overwhelmingly strong that you will never catch up to a peer that had a technical or engineering degree even if you are doing the exact same role or do it better. If you feel that pay if offset by recognition of accomplishments you may need to have your spouse give you a pat on the back because it's not frequent to get it out of upper management. Some say because it's high expectations, more realistically it's because most of the managers and senior leadership are where they're at because of time with the company and not because of their leadership abilities.
