Pros
The hours can be manageable. You can definitely work 8-5 with a few overtime days depending on the season. You can take a lunch hour. There is a lot of background training at the beginning. Travel is encouraged for building relationships. My personal department has independence and isn't micro managed
Cons
The atmosphere is very corporate. Business attire with casual Fridays. There are very strict about policies especially regarding PTO. You aren't eligible for sick time until you have worked 6 months. Bereavement time off is only for immediate family. While traveling there is no way to contact family except on your own dime. There are only 5 holidays in the year. Vacation time is based on pay not years worked. At a managers position there are only 2 weeks of vacation time, the same as an entry level position. Since KKR purchased there has been a very blaming atmosphere and people let go. Everything has to be justified to KKR. For a sports and outdoor company there are no athletic perks ( gym membership, company sports teams, tickets, etc.). The technology is outdated. Some things are being upgraded but design is done on old PCs. There is no budget to increase the manpower where needed. There is A LOT of turnover right now.
