Pros

If you plan on spending a long time with one company and want to build a long term career, this is a great place for you. The LDP program gives you lots of exposure to different projects. Once you become an "LDP" you are branded as someone who is a fast tracker and you will be tapped for various opportunities over your peers. Also has some great benefits.

Cons

Can be very bureaucratic (the downside of working at any large company). To succeed, you have got to have that "go-getter" attitude. Don't expect for anyone to hand you anything. If you want to advance in the company, be prepared to spend a lot of time in Dallas. Promotions are also sparse. The union is an absolute headache to work with. Unfortunately there is little you can do about this. Just put in your time with the management rotation, and quickly move on.

Pros

They pay a fair wage and their health benefits are good, although the benefits are in the process of eroding.

Cons

you are micromanaged to the enth degree. Just when you get a handle on the new program they change it. There is daily harassment and ever increasing productivity levels. It is the most disjointed company I have ever worked for in my 50 plus year old life. This is the most incompetently managed company I have ever seen. Customer service sucks. However, we are like battered house wives married to a millionaire control freak. Where are we gonna go. Blatant incompetence.

Pros

The mobility industry is expanding. The iPhone has brought in new customers.

Cons

The corporate bureaucracy is unbelievable. The landline side of the business controls everything. The mobility division is the company's cash cow and is being bled dry. Most management decisions are short-sighted and show little or no knowledge of the business. 2009 will be a challenging time for AT&T. The company is looking at 2 possible strikes during the first half of 2009. The company is currently training IT developers and analysts to work at Call Centers and/or as U-verse installers around the country. If these strikes occur, non-union employees will expected to be ready to relocate to other parts of the country for the length of the strike.
