Pros

Most of the employees are union and the union bargains for fair wages and benefits. These are very high in comparison to other employers in our area.

Cons

You are a number on a piece of paper, a productivity level. If the employees meet their objectives, the company changes the objectives to make them difficult to attain without cheating on your numbers a little. Higher level management does not listen to, or ask the field technicians about what is really needed or desired by the customers they come into contact with. There is very little recognition for achievement or customer commendations. Employee morale is not very high in any area except wages and benefits which the union attains for them, the company does not give them voluntarily. Job satisfaction, or work/life balance satisfaction is low. Most managers play favorites among employees, they simply cannot do it monetarily as the union scale guarantees that everyone is treated eaqually in that respect. They can however do it by work assignments, or in other ways.

Pros

Extremely competetive compensation and benefits packages available. The conpany has a great diversity in job available that you could bid on and move to.

Cons

Higher than average compensation makes it difficult to entertain moving to another company. The work pace is getting faster with an ever changing process related to multiple mergers in a relatively short period of time. Too much out-sourcing that make workig with off-shore co-workers difficult due to time-zone issues.

Pros

The company is secure and is a leader in its industry. They pay well and have decent benefits. In my field they are cutting edge and I am exposed to all the newest technology. I have the ear of my management team 3 levels above me.

Cons

Budget decisions seem to not be that thought out. Some hiring policies are suspect and at times good talent is not retained. Way too much dead weight that could easily be cut. Way too many project managers that do not do much work.
