Pros

The location is great, office situated in the heart of the city

Cons

Very unfriendly staff - please stay away if you desire to achieve career progression. Internet connection cuts off every other day meaning you spend your day clogging up work and finishing at unsociaable hours. Salary is beyond the avrrage for Managers and most staff.

Pros

(1) On the basis you are brought in as an EXPERIENCED Business Manager, you develop the capability to be efficient and constantly solve ever changing problems. (2) The technical side i.e. SPL, TD, are amazing to work with.

Cons

There are far too many… (1) The job description for an experienced business manager is far too glorified than what it actually is. The real definition should (a) recruitment agent (40%), (b) call centre (25%), (c) admin problem solving (20%) (d) consultant career management (5%) and (e) business development (10%) (2) The micro management from management is unbearable i.e. how you dress, how you sit etc. (3) There is no capacity from management to coach hence one invests in themselves to truly learn the role and deliver. (4) The management is simply focused on numbers; no matter how much effort one puts to ensure the customers are satisfied. (5) The KPI’s that management expects is unreasonably high. You will be under watch if you are below these KPI’s. (6) The pressure from the above is too high for living forget work life balance. As a result the pressure is intense. Whilst the contract states 40 hours, you will end up on average with 55 hours per week. In several occasions, even a 10 mins break on a day is criminal given the KPI pressures. (7) The management at times lacks respect to their business managers and at times it’s visible that you are being judged. (8) There is no band of salary between experienced business managers and the magnitude difference between two managers of same levels is gobsmacking. (9) The base salary is indeed not enough especially if you live in London. The bonus ceiling, yes agreed is healthy though has not been achieved. The average figure provided by the hiring manager during interviews especially the finally in my opinion is questionable.

Pros

None I can think of as the company work ethics and management was so poor.

Cons

I was working at my x company and wanted to do a career transition into software engineering. I was contacted by Alten and was told that there a various number of projects available and I could work as a software engineer as this was one of their available vacancies. We had several long meetings as they were trying to convince me that they had a vast amount of clients and projects and there was no way I was going to be put off a project due to my experiences in data and software engineering. Later, I was sent a contract and I accepted the offer (£27,500) and committing to travel for 3 hours 2-3 days a week. After 7 months I found my self Jobless because Alten could not find any projects for me and apparently the business was going bad. The factors which lead to this awful experience was as following: 1. Poor recruitment: I was given so many false promises during the recruitment process and was told that there has not been a single case where they have not been able to find a project for the people they recruit. - I was made redundant because there was no project available. 2. Lack of respect for diversity, inclusion and belief: I am a practicing muslim and as muslims we fast during the holy month of ramadan. While I was fasting in the office I was told by my manager to not tell another senior member within the team that I was fasting as he used to be in the army and he would not be happy hearing that I am fasting. 3. Culture and Values: The only value the company has is to exploit people by making them work under a job title (example: Software Engineer) and make them do everything (fixing word macros, updating word documents, using tools to drag and drop data, etc) other than there profession. Ofcourse, there has to be some level of documentation, however, the problem here is that documentation was the only thing done under the job title software engineer. A message I received from my manager: "Hi xxx" "I will provide you with the file" "One thing, don't mention xxx name to xxx" "He doesn't like her" 4. Career Opportunities : No future career opportunities. Despite raising concerns about the issue of lack of relevant work allocation, I was told it will change soon and they will find a solution. However, the only solution they found was to make me redundant. Finally, I want to inform everyone out there to stay away from this toxic company and never ever change your current company for Alten as regardless how unhappy you are with your current role it can never get as worse as Alten! I am currently working for another company for the double pay and with a lovely team which support each other and are far away from any toxic mindset.
