Enjoyable working environment. Challenging but interesting roles. Management are considerate and helpful; all employees were friendly. Training was hands-on and under direct supervision.

Cons

Pay was underwhelming. Advancement in role involved commuting to Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs. Some of the material to be tested involved unpleasant waste materials.

Pros

ALS is a leader in testing service provider. They provided a proper safety training and other benefits. However, you might have to wait for a year before you become a permanent employee and earn those benefits.

Cons

Sometimes employees in the lab focused too much on the production rate and forgot about teamwork. Workplace dominant with one group of the employee who speaks a foreign language and makes other feel left out.

Pros

The supervisors were very kind and helpful and provided a relatively flexible schedule. When there was work to do, I didn't do the same thing all day long.

Cons

Working in the environmental department, winter was slow in the northeast. It's hard to take soil and water samples when the ground is frozen, so that wasn't the fault of the company, but the days went very slow with not much work to do. There was very little upward mobility.
