Thank you for your comments, we would be very much interested in hearing about what aspects of working at ALS we could improve upon. If you didn't make any comments on our recent employee survey (GlobalSay), you can also let us know what we can improve on through our employee management committee (each department in North Vancouver has a representative) or by talking to your HR Representative. We welcome comments and feedback and really hope you feel comfortable enough to share your opinions with us.

Pros

Good team, Work is hard but relatively easy to do, working day goes fast.

Cons

Rotational roster, very hazardous to your health with lead and silica present, summer is a slog, high turnover on your team, definitely can have more money in this role as a FIFO worker, no career development.

Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback, when the days goes fast that is usually a sign that the work is enjoyable! I'm sorry to see the rotational roster wasn't to your liking, we try to make it as health friendly as possible but it won't suit everyone. The lead and silica you mention are strictly controlled from a HSE point of view including extraction methods and rigorous PPE including hooded respirators so the work is low risk when SOP's are followed. Summer is definitely the hardest part of working in Fire Assay but with the new air conditioning and water misting system, plus the respirator system that cools you through your hood, we are removing as much heat as we can. Career development is always an option at ALS from becoming a supervisor in Fire Assay to movement to other sections such as Geochemistry and Spectroscopy as proven by the many staff in those roles who have been promoted within ALS.

Pros

Good benefits and nice people to work with

Cons

Well they pretend they have your back and listen to your suggestions on what they can do better and never change anything about it. They always listen to their client first before even hearing an employee out irregardless of what ever the concern might be about. It’s always bottom line for them. The pay decent but not the best wages and make you work ungodly amount of hours with not caring about anything except the bottom line. Especially when the management just goes home right on the dot st 5. Anything that puts them in a situation where they might have to answer to it from whatever oversight they are reporting to manipulate things to have it be favorable. I know of a couple of their labs losing the accreditation’s and certifications to perform, conduct and analyze certain laboratory tests to die this practice. I ca. Go on and on.
