Pros

Pay is average/above industry standard. Benefits are average/above industry standard. You can hide behind other's work and look competent/useful by doing nothing.

Cons

Others will claim merits for your work and try to look competent/useful by doing nothing. This attitude is facilitated by the employee management culture in engineering. Engineering direction is going to substantially weaken/kill the company over the next 5-10 years. Fleet of incompetent engineers and consultants are hired with false promises, have management drink their Kool aid, steal the money and leave. Management is forcing some unrealistic engineering dogma upon its best engineering, tanking the company slowly with each unsuccessful attempt to do the slightest increments to release new products. They won't accept feedback from the knowledge owners of their most successful products, and will therefore lose their greatest assets over time. Unagreeable and incompetent management heads are going to fall in the next 2-5 years... Which, in the end, will significantly impact the customers : buggy/rushed agricultural machines, slow support, higher costs for simpler maintenance, etc

Pros

Its a good company to get your foot in the door but career development will soon run dry as most of the work is dealing with outdated tech. You wont be reprimanded for not working as long as you mask it with the act of doing so, metrics don't matter. It is a good company if you are looking to be comfortable in your role with little career growth or effort.

Cons

Since I worked there, there has been a drastic loss of talent on my team leaving few relevant mentors. Employee retention is not valued so it makes it hard to want to stay when management isn't willing to support you. Its a great company with great people. Unfortunately, the software side is a disaster with sloppy development and poor testing which makes it hard to take pride in your work.
