Pros

The company itself is a very good place to work. Staff all over the world are nice and willing to work with you. There is very little of the "not my responsibility" attitude. AGCO is excelling in it electronics packages for its products and it is leading the way for the industry. Pay seems to be about average for the industry. Within the IT department, there are a lot of good, well intended professionals. There is very little ego at play within management which is very refreshing. They are working at becoming more mature in their organization and processes. The effort to round up all the global acquisitions and move them away from their local processes and command structure to apply global standards and global change management is beginning to pay dividends.

Cons

The agricultural industry took a nasty hit in 2014 and the 2015 budget is tight so salary offers may reflect the reduced budget. The IT department is reclusive with very few social events. If it weren't for the CIO, Sheryl Bunton, leading a social gathering, many of us would have never been introduced to 3/4 of the other IT staff. IT is understaffed, overburdened and not adequately trained to keep up with all of the technologies and systems that IT or the Business purchase and put into production. The PMO was placed under Architecture due to 2014 layoffs and PMs and mid and upper level managers waste hours every week supporting review processes which provide little value. The recently approved move to SAP is slowing gaining momentum and is still in its infancy. In five years I have seen few internal promotions. The annual appraisal system is like most corporations. No one can provide objective criteria for scoring top rankings so no one ever does.
