Old McDonald was probably a member of AFT. The not-for-profit American Farmland Trust seeks to protect US farmland by working with farmers, environmentalists, and government agencies to promote sound farming practices, encourage agriculturally-minded community planning, and secure public funds for conservation. Its Farmland Information Center produces analyses and studies while its Center for Agriculture in the Environment looks for environmentally friendly farming practices. The organization also offers consulting services and awards a $10,000 Steward of the Land prize yearly to one of its 50,000 members. AFT was founded in 1980 by farmers and conservationists worried about the loss of farmland to developers.
