What the most difficult decision that ever made
Asked me to describe my current project and was going through the details I put in my resume, and asking me questions about that. He asked me about the flow of the software I was currently working on.
The architectural interviews were mostly focused on if I still was technical or if I'd completely lost touch with what's going on on the front line. There were questions about testing, testing boundaries, testing ideology, and practices. As well as questions regarding architecture for designing a single system to manage all the elevators in the city. It was very open ended. I enjoyed brain storming around the concept.
What should I hire you?
The interview questions focused on technical implementation with some touching execution. Nothing on leadership, strategy, partnerships or people management which are areas that are more critical competencies at a role like this. Interviewers were argumentative on common and industry-wide adopted SDLC models and had a combative attitude throughout the interview.
How do you do 1:1's with your team members?
The recruiter asked pretty straight forward behavioral questions - rapid fire: No kidding it was like a 3 hour interview in 50 minutes. The recruiter questions were all great for a manager level interview - how did you handle this/that... Then he asked about a time when I should have done something better (I answered with a time when an employee's performance had dropped off and I did not fire them sooner): He went on to spend 10 minutes of the interview lecturing me on how to handle low performers...
