I applied through other source. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at eBay (Draper, UT) in Sep 2011
Interview
It took many applications and a job fair to get an interview, then at that point it took 3 months to receive an offer.. After that I had to wait another 3 month's for an open training class. This was 4 years ago, & with a new building it seems eBay has lowered the application qualifications & started hiring children. There's training classes all the time now with over 20 people (my class was 8 to put it in perspective 4 of which were current employees) I can only gather that the process has sped up, but the issue with continually being denied for no real reason is still rampant.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at eBay (San Jose, CA) in Jan 2015
Interview
First round was a simple phone screen with a recruiter. Why ebay? Why not [previous job]? etc.
Second round was with a member of the analytics team and was pretty technical. A few brainteasers and mental math questions plus a Fermi estimation/consulting style question that was eBay specific
Third round was an online test. It was pretty easy, as it was just multiple choice math questions that was probably of difficulty in-between the GMAT and SAT
Final round was on-site and was pretty grueling. 6 or so interviews throughout the day and all were technical. Most asked a variety of brainteasers and case style questions about eBay as well as miscellaneous business scenarios. An occasional amount of drilling into technical experience on my resume as well. They were interested in projects I had done and what I could have done to improve them now.
After about 5 days I received a generic email saying they chose someone with more experience
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1. Estimate the average number of transactions on eBay per day.
2. The classic weighing 9 balls with a scale question
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at eBay (Singapur)
Interview
I was interviewed by 4 people. 2 immediate hiring manager, 1 their boss and another a co-worker.
I was interviewed by two direct bosses on the first day. And 1 co-worker
The final interviewed was conducted by the head of department a week later
Different methods were used by each interviewers. Some were scenario based, others were just understanding my background and experience.
