I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Wise (Londres, Inglaterra) in Oct 2023
Interview
There are 5 interview stages at Wise:
1. Initial screening, 30-minute talk to a recruiter.
2. Coding challenge, 60 min with two engineers. The task (45 min) was similar to LC 695 + implement input from stdin. Then 15 min for Q.
3. System design, 90 min with two engineers. Design Wise in simplified terms. I was asked about load balancing, idempotency and consistency.
4. Product thinking interview, 60 min with PM and prospective team lead, seems to be the hardest one :). Almost impossible to prepare yourself. I was asked questions about successful projects and measuring the success, unsuccessful ones and possible reasons. Reading Wise's Medium blog helps here.
5. Final interview, 60 min with two engineers. Mix of questions about experience, mindset, preferred environment etc. A variation of a cultural fit interview.
All in all that was quite nice experience. Recruiter sent me descriptions for each step as well as a blog post about hiring process at Wise (dated 2018 but still relevant).

Interview
Typical interview process, Zoom screen with a recruiter and then a Zoom screen with the hiring manager. I didn’t move past the hiring manager. Interviews were easy and only consisted of behavioral questions. Recruiter made it very clear what they look for in their PM candidates: be quantitatively focused on data, be able to tell a good story, and tie it back to metrics. Pretty typical of the big tech performative interview style. Ultimately the interviewers lacked personality and it was difficult to imagine working at Wise. Recruiter promised to answer my questions after our conversation, then never responded to me. Hiring manager said I’d receive feedback on my interview regardless of the outcome, then sent me a boilerplate rejection email. Folks at Wise have a hard time doing what they say it seems. Like others who have interviewed at Wise, unless you say exactly what they’re looking for, expect a bland rejection email with no sincerity, regardless of the effort you put into the process.

Question 1
Tell me about a product you are proud of launching. Remember to focus on data and tie it back to metrics.
The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Wise (São Paulo, ) in Sep 2022
Interview
Two phases, one with an online interview and written questions, and the other with two senior leads of Customer support area. It was difficult to understand all of the details about the project but I considered the whole process very emphatetic.
